Bezeq’s Fibre Surge Powers Profit Jump and Expands Israel’s Digital Ambitions

Bezeq reported a rise in first-quarter profit as strong demand for fibre broadband services boosted subscriber growth past the 1 million mark. Adjusted net profit climbed to 300 million shekels, while core revenue increased 2.6 percent to 2.03 billion shekels. The company said its fibre network rollout has now reached 3 million homes, giving it around 50 percent market share in Israel’s fibre segment. Bezeq also announced plans to build a high-speed subsea cable linking Europe and Asia, aimed at improving regional digital connectivity and reducing reliance on routes through the Strait of Hormuz. However, its mobile unit Pelephone saw weaker earnings due to ongoing regional conflict pressures, even as 5G subscribers continued to rise.

Telecom Titan KDDI Makes $65 mn Crypto Power Play with Coincheck Stake

Japanese telecom leader KDDI is set to acquire a 14.9 percent stake in Coincheck Group through a $65 million investment, highlighting growing convergence between telecom and digital asset industries. The deal will see KDDI purchase over 28.5 million newly issued shares at $2.28 each, with completion expected in June 2026. Alongside the investment, both firms have signed a strategic business alliance aimed at expanding crypto adoption in Japan through customer referral programs, digital asset wallets, and blockchain-based financial services. KDDI will also gain the right to appoint a non-executive board member, while leveraging its 30 million-plus customer bases to accelerate mainstream access to crypto and next-generation fintech solutions.

Ooredoo and Microsoft Ignite Qatar’s AI Telecom Revolution

Ooredoo has partnered with Microsoft to accelerate AI-powered digital transformation in Qatar’s telecom sector. The collaboration will support Ooredoo’s transition into an AI-driven organization through sovereign and hybrid cloud infrastructure, advanced AI capabilities, and scalable digital platforms. The initiative aims to enhance telecom operations, customer engagement, and enterprise services while improving efficiency and innovation across the company. Executives from both firms said the partnership aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030 and will help build a more resilient digital ecosystem. The program also reflects the growing regional focus on integrating AI, cloud computing, and automation into telecom networks and business services to strengthen competitiveness and future growth.
