Amphenol Acquires Trexon in $1 bn Deal

Amphenol will acquire Trexon for about $1 billion in cash. Trexon manufactures wire, cable, and connector products for military, medical, industrial, and quantum computing sectors. Amphenol said Trexon’s products will expand its defense portfolio and strengthen its position in specialized connectivity solutions. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025, subject to regulatory approvals. Trexon’s estimated 2025 revenue is $290 million, with an EBITDA margin of 26 percent. Japanese Telecom Firms Target Indonesia as ASEAN Expansion Hub

Japanese telecom companies are focusing on Indonesia as a gateway for Southeast Asian expansion. Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications will provide subsidies for establishing maintenance centers in Indonesia to strengthen local telecom infrastructure. A new legal framework, expected within the current fiscal year, will allow Japanese firms to export telecom equipment, operate, and provide services directly in the Indonesian market, supporting faster resolution of technical issues and creating new revenue streams. Orex Sai, a joint venture between NTT Docomo and NEC Corporation, signed an agreement in March with Indonesian firm Surge (Solusi Sinergi Digital) that includes an investment of ¥500 billion (US $3.4 billion) over 10 years, focusing on telecom services in less populated areas.

Kuwait’s CITRA Signs Contract to Establish Spectrum Monitoring Framework

CITRA signed a contract with Future Integrated Technologies for Communications Equipment Company to implement an Automated Spectrum Monitoring and Analysis System. The project establishes a framework for monitoring radio spectrum across all frequency bands nationwide. The system will detect unlicensed spectrum usage and identify sources of interference. It will provide real-time monitoring and periodic field measurements with analytical indicators. CITRA will operate an integrated control center, fixed and mobile monitoring stations, handheld devices, and service-quality measurement tools. Monitoring will cover residential and border areas, Kuwait Times reports.

Canada Strengthens 5G and Defense Through Swedish Partnerships

Ethio Telecom and Huawei Launch North Africa’s First Tri-Band Massive MIMO Site

Ethio Telecom and Huawei deployed North Africa’s first GigaAAU FDD tri-band Massive MIMO site. The system integrates three frequency bands — 1.8 GHz, 2.1 GHz, and 2.6 GHz — into a single antenna unit, enabling network expansion without additional antennas. The system supports 720W transmit power. It uses intelligent beam scheduling and beamforming to improve user coverage and experience. A “0 bit 0 watt” mode reduces off-peak power consumption to near zero. Live network data shows a 70 percent increase in 4G traffic and a 68 percent rise in average network speed.
