Airtel and IHS Launch 152 Telecom Towers to Boost Zambia’s Connectivity

Airtel Zambia and IHS Towers are building 152 telecom towers across Zambia. Forty towers are operational, and twelve more are expected by the end of September, with the project on track for completion by November 2025. The initiative is part of a $14 million investment by Airtel Africa and IHS Towers to increase network coverage and improve connectivity. The towers will support 4G and 5G services, extending mobile and internet access to rural areas. The project is a collaboration between Airtel Zambia, IHS Zambia, and the Zambian government, targeting a network coverage increase to 91.6 percent.

Ericsson and Partners Transform 5G in Taiwan with AI and Open APIs

Ericsson is collaborating with Singtel, Aduna, MediaTek, and Intel to advance 5G-Advanced and open API platforms in Taiwan. The initiative focuses on integrating AI, cloud computing, and mobile networks to improve telecom services. Key efforts include AI-driven networks that analyze data in real time, enabling faster network decision-making. Programmable networks use open APIs and intent-driven design to allow customized network configurations. Network slicing is implemented with 5G standalone architecture to provide low-latency connections for applications such as autonomous driving and smart factories. Edge AI is applied to reduce inference costs and enhance privacy, while MediaTek works to increase network capacity and improve user experience.

Spark Teams Up with Aduna to Revolutionize Network Access

Aduna has partnered with Spark, New Zealand’s digital services provider, to integrate Aduna’s API platform into Spark’s enterprise offerings. The platform provides standardized access to global telecom networks, enabling Spark to streamline operations and improve service delivery. This partnership supports Spark’s digital initiatives and reflects a trend in the telecom industry where companies adopt API platforms to connect networks efficiently and offer integrated services to enterprise customers.
