ZTE demonstrates CS Fallback Service with CSL at 2011 MAC

ZTE has demonstrated its Uni-Core based Circuit Switched Fallback (CS Fallback)
services over Hong Kong CSL Limited’s (CSL) LTE and 3G mobile networks with a
commercial smartphone at the 2011 GSMA Mobile Asia Congress (MAC) in Hong Kong.

ZTE
Uni-Core solution supports a smooth upgrade path from 3G to LTE/EPC without the
requirement to upgrade the infrastructure, protecting operators’ investments.
CS Fallback is a key feature of the ZTE Uni-Core solution, and enables users to
enjoy both high-speed data service over LTE and top-quality CS voice service.

As a result of the acceleration in the deployment of commercial LTE networks
and continued growth in popularity of smart phones, a greater number of
smartphones that support LTE are being developed. Accordingly, mobile operators
are concerned with efficient ways to migrate legacy 3G voice and data services
to LTE. As the standard defined by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project
(3GPP), CS Fallback is considered as the preferred solution in the early stages
of LTE/EPC network deployment.

“ZTE’s CS Fallback solution helps operators save costs by making full use
of existing networks to provide voice services,” said ZTE President of Core
Network Products Xu Ziyang.” The joint demonstration conducted today with CSL
shows that ZTE’s LTE voice solutions are viable and useful for mobile
operators.”

ZTE is dedicated to deploying LTE/EPC networks and creating innovative network
solutions with the aim of improving ease-of-use for operators and customers.

In cooperation with the GSMA and CSL, ZTE conducted the world’s first IMS based
Voice over LTE (VoLTE) call on a commercial LTE network and existing 2G/3G
networks at the Mobile Asia Congress in November, 2010.

In addition, ZTE successfully participated in the first-ever VoLTE
interoperability test event, which was hosted by the MultiService Forum (MSF)
and backed by the GSMA at the Vodafone Test and Innovation Centre in
Dusseldorf, Germany, in October, 2011.
