VBrick offers streaming video in Microsoft Lync

Enterprise
IP video provider VBrick Systems announced support for a new generation of IP
video capabilities that seamlessly integrate with Microsoft Lync
2010 Unified Communications platform.

The
offering combines Lync’s rich collaboration tools with VBrick’s unparalleled
ability to manage and deliver live and on-demand IP video to a user’s desktop. This
the latest step in VBrick’s unified communications product and go-to-market
strategy, having earlier announced complete video integration with Microsoft’s
Office Communications Server
(OCS) and SharePoint products.

The
expansion of VBrick’s offerings comes at a time of rapid growth in enterprise
unified communications.

According
to ABI Research, the global unified communications market experienced 22
percent year-over-year growth in 2010 and is set to reach $2.3 billion by 2016.

IP
video–and streaming video in particular–is an essential component of this
quickly growing market, as it enables organizations to more effectively access
video content while at the same time using familiar collaboration tools to
share information and complete projects–all regardless of employees’
locations.

VBrick’s
solution is designed to integrate the collaborative broadcast capabilities,
personalization and scalability of VBrick’s next generation enterprise media management
system, VEMS Mystro with the familiarity of the Lync user Interface.

With
VBrick Video Buddies users can extend the Lync “one-click” experience
to access video broadcasts. Users can instantly see what content is available,
including channel names and program titles. This tight integration enables
users to watch and collaborate on all types of video content from inside their
Lync client.

VBrick’s
solutions can be deployed as soon as an organization installs Lync Instant
Messaging and Presence, enabling companies to leverage IP video sooner in their
unified communications migration process, even if voice or video conferencing
has not been fully adopted.

Because
there is no need to add software to the desktop it is easy for IT departments
to rapidly deploy, offering users more immediate benefits from their access to
streaming video content. In fact, with VBrick, users can quickly begin to
personalize and embed IP video into any communications environment, from learning
management and mobile workers to unified communications.

“It’s
hard to miss the rising tide of video offerings that help us share our personal
experiences and lifestyles,” said John Shaw, chief operating officer,
VBrick Systems. “Enterprises are embracing the lessons of video use
outside the office to help their employees more aggressively adopt rich media
as a collaborative business tool.”

Integrating
the power of VBrick streaming video with Lync provides a familiar, easy to use
communications environment without compromising the organization’s need for
security, manageability, reliability and scalability. Our partnership with
Microsoft is empowering millions of people across the world with personal,
effective video interaction and collaboration,” Shaw added.
