NetSTAR, a supplier of Internet content filtering technologies, announced the completion of a global licensing agreement with Mobile Active Defense, a Smartphone security company.
NetSTAR will offer its Asia-Pacific (APAC) Region customers complete mobile enterprise security and compliance for iPhones, iPads, and other smartphones and tablet devices beginning in Q2 2011.
Mobile Active Defense will provide NetSTAR with their enterprise-grade smartphone security solution, the Mobile Enterprise Compliance and Security Server (MECS).
NetSTAR, which services all mobile network operators in Japan and holding one of the largest presences in the corporate market nationwide, will be hosting their own private-branded MECS servers for the APAC region. They will further integrate their own filtering technologies, which hold an overwhelming share of the APAC corporate market and the vast majority of the filtering market in Japan.
The MECS Server extends existing enterprise and network security policies across mobile platforms with device lock-down, always-on CA-based and enforced VPN encryption, granular policy driven firewall controls that automatically adjust based upon the physical location of the mobile device and a suite of content filtering and device management tools, anti-virus and malware eradication.
The Application Access Control (AAC) detects known hostile apps and “apps behaving badly” on the device. In addition to the jailbreaking detection and automatic remediation processes, the MECS server offers the most comprehensive mobile security available today.
The MECS technology is ideal for us. By collaborating with Mobile Active Defense we have created the optimal solution to protect enterprises and consumers with the utmost safety across the widest range of mobile platforms. We have the finest filtering technology to make the Internet safer for companies, schools and homes now with Mobile Active Defense, we can offer our corporate customers so much more: a completely secure and safe mobile environment”, said Akira Nakayama, executive director of NetSTAR.
NetSTAR has a long, successful history of providing Internet safety to their multi-national customers with the most comprehensive filtering lists and engines available. With the addition of MECS’s powerful mobile security technology, NetSTAR will leapfrog the industry in the APAC region. This is a very exciting time for both of us”, said Winn Schwartau, chairman of Mobile Active Defense.
NetSTAR expects a fast adaption of the new solution by their corporate customers across dozens of countries that have a definitive need to answer and address their mobile security problems.
