products.

What are the new products / services showcased at
Convergence India?

At Convergence India 2012, Motorola Solutions showed its
portfolio of wireless and enterprise solutions. The wireless portfolio is built
around our WiNG5 intelligent architecture. The intelligence in a traditional
network resides in the heart of the network but, the WiNG5 distributes this
intelligence to the periphery of the network for better traffic management,
optimum network performance and thus helps get full value of the capex
investments made by enterprises in high speed network equipment. Our wireless
portfolio also includes Air Defense services platform, an advanced wireless
intrusion detection and protection solution that complies with regulatory
standards such as PCI-DSS and HIPAA. It helps in network management and
advanced troubleshooting.

Finally, our wireless network solutions portfolio
includes a range of access points and controllers, which we displayed our booth
at the event. The other area of focus was our enterprise solutions portfolio,
which includes retail, warehousing management, manufacturing and supply chain,
and transport and logistics, and education vertical focused solutions. We
displayed our rugged enterprise tablet ET1, RhoElements application development
platform and a wide range of mobile computing and advanced data capture
solutions at the event. It will be available by the end of Q1/early Q2.

What are your expansion and investment plans?

mission-critical solutions to our customers.  In the enterprise segment, a
key horizontal such as warehousing, and verticals such as retail, transport and
logistics are witnessing significant growth and we are playing an active role
in these sectors and have extensive ongoing customer engagements.

What are the new products / services you will be
launching in 2012-13?

We have recently announced the ET1 – rugged enterprise
tablet and the RhoElements application developer platform. These have been
developed keeping in mind the emerging needs of our enterprise customers.
Similarly, we have also recently introduced in the market the MC2100 rugged
mobile computer which is available starting Q2. It represents the requirements
and feedback we have taken from our customers and will enable even the small
and medium business segment to leverage the advantages of enterprise mobility
to grow and optimize their businesses.

Besides these, we have also introduced the WiNG5 network
architecture.  In addition, we have also introduced AP 6532 access points
and controllers.  There will be additions to this portfolio in the
future.  We are also strengthening our two way radio solutions portfolio
by introducing new digital radios to help our customers migrate to digital
standards, and leverage the productivity enhancements they can achieve using
our two way radio’s voice and data solutions.

What are the market trends?

There are a number of market trends one is witnessing in
India:

– In the public safety space, there is an increasing
realization among the agencies to upgrade to Digital standards to keep pace
with the heightened security requirements.  The next generation digital
networks offer better interoperability, scalability and complex systems to keep
pace with evolving needs and to leverage the spectral efficiency offered by the
digital standards.

– In the energy segment, particularly in oil and gas, one
is experiencing an increased uptake of improved communication infrastructure.

– There is also increase in investment in infrastructure
projects such as metro rail systems, airports and ports.

– Retail is another high growth sector which is
witnessing both local and internal brands increase their investments in the
market.  This is resulting in growth in large format stores where there is
greater use of mobility technology for optimising back-end operations, better
store management and improved customer experience.

– Wireless is now ubiquitous and Enterprises are opting
for seamless connectivity for their workforce to remain ahead of the
competition. With growth in wireless there is also the need to secure the
network.  This is an area where one will witness growth in the future, to
address the need to protect customer data and prevent theft of financial
data.  The use of wireless for financial transactions will have to be
followed through with adoption of new payment security standards.
