Hathway, SITI Digital, INCablenet, DigiCable and DEN offer digital cableTV for Rs 799

Telecom Lead India: Digitization initiatives have finally
started benefitting customers. MSOs Hathway, SITI Digital, INCablenet,
DigiCable and DEN have decided to join hands and offer digital cableTV for Rs
799 to consumers in 4 cities.


The initiative will enable MSOs to offer digital cable
services with better picture and sound quality at discounted rates.


The new initiative is in line with the Ministry of
Information and Broadcasting’s directive to achieve digitization of cable TV by
October 31, 2012 across Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata in the first phase.


MSOs are offering digital cable services at installation
prices of Rs 799 which is exclusive of taxes and valid until September 30, 2012
in four cities. Cable consumers will get more channels, weather-proof
transmission and more.


K Jayaraman, MD & CEO of Hathway Cable and Datacom,
said the industry is committed to ensuring timely implementation of the
government mandate of digitization of cable TV services.


The industry is looking at educating television viewers
in the four metros.


This service is provided through the local cable
operator. The price of the offering will increase to Rs. 999 after September
30, 2012, which is the valid offer period.
