Cavium ARM-Based ECONA SoC powers D-Link routers

By Telecom Lead Team: Cavium, a provider of semiconductor
products, announced that its ARM-based ECONA SoC is being deployed into a range
of D-Link Small to Medium Business (SMB), Virtual Private Network (VPN)
routers.

D-Link’s new line of SMB VPN routers are powered by
Cavium’s advanced ECONA processor family with scalable platform targeting low-,
mid-, and high-end Consumer and SMB router and network attached storage (NAS)
markets.

D-link is now shipping the DSR-250N router to its Small
and Medium Business (SMB) customers.

“D-Link selected Cavium’s ECONA processors for its
sophisticated and robust networking and security features. Equally significant
is the complete software solution provided by Cavium, which was instrumental in
reducing the time-to-market for our product,” said ML Jean, director of
Marketing at D-Link.

Based on Cavium’s ECONA SoC, D-Link’s new DSR-250N is
delivering high-performance Unified Services Router functionalities that can
connect multiple offices with high throughput VPN connections and Gigabit
Ethernet and wireless LAN connectivity. Cavium’s ECONA processors are uniquely
architected to provide the best combination of performance per dollar and
performance per watt.

” With ECONA, we offer a competitive edge in
performance and power dissipation, better integration, and CPU architecture
that permits off-the-shelf Linux porting,”  said Hanh Nguyen, general
manager of the Digital Home and Office Division at Cavium.

Cavium’s ECONA family of highly integrated ARM-based SoC
processors offer a rich set of integrated hardware accelerators and a range of
I/Os for glueless voice and data connectivity. The ECONA family of products is
ideally suited for high-performance wireless routers, broadband home gateways
and NAS devices.

Last year, Cavium had announced initial shipments of NITROX III processors to
multiple application delivery and enterprise OEM customers.

The NITROX III security processor family integrates 16 to
64 purpose-built security RISC cores and multiple compression engines to
deliver up to 200K SSL ops, 40Gbps SSL and IPSec and 20Gbps compression processing
along with virtualization hardware with a PCI-Express Gen 2 16-lane
interface.
