JioHotstar Hikes Subscription Plans with New Monthly Options to Enhance Mobile and TV Streaming in India

JioHotstar, India’s largest entertainment platform, is making it easier for viewers to access its content with a refreshed subscription model starting January 28, 2026.

The update introduces flexible monthly plans across all tiers, complementing existing quarterly and annual options, and aims to cater to evolving content preferences and growing large-screen consumption.

JioHotstar’s Mobile plan is priced at ₹79 monthly, ₹149 quarterly, and ₹499 annually, allowing access on one mobile device at a time with ad-supported content and Hollywood available as an add-on for ₹49.

JioHotstar’s Super plan costs ₹149 monthly, ₹349 quarterly, and ₹1,099 annually, supports up to two devices simultaneously, is ad-supported, and offers Hollywood content through a ₹129 add-on.

JioHotstar’s Premium plan is priced at ₹299 monthly, ₹699 quarterly, and ₹2,199 annually, allows access on up to four devices, provides ad-free entertainment except for live sports, and includes all content, including Hollywood, in the base pack.

Before the update, JioHotstar had the following pricing:

Mobile: ₹149 for 3 months (≈ ₹499/year)

Super: ₹299 for 3 months (≈ ₹899/year)

Premium: ₹299 monthly, ₹499 for 3 months, ₹1,499 for a year.

Under the 2026 structure for new subscribers, the equivalent yearly and quarterly prices in many cases are now significantly higher (e.g., Premium annual at ₹2,199 vs earlier ₹1,499) and monthly options were newly introduced at set price points like ₹299 for Premium. That shift indicates an effective price increase for many users compared to older annual/quarterly rates.

The new structure from JioHotstar is designed for both individual mobile users and families streaming on Connected TVs. Over the past 11 months, JioHotstar has seen a surge in large-screen usage, and the updated pricing reflects the platform’s focus on delivering a high-quality viewing experience across devices.

Under the revised plans, Hollywood content will be available in the Super and Premium tiers for new subscribers. Mobile users can also access Hollywood movies via an optional add-on, allowing for a more tailored streaming experience. Existing subscribers will retain their current plans and pricing as long as auto-renewals remain active, ensuring a seamless transition.

The timing of this update aligns with a significant growth milestone for JioHotstar. The platform has surpassed 1 billion downloads on Google Play and now serves over 450 million monthly active users across all of India’s pin codes. With more than 300,000 hours of entertainment spanning languages and genres, JioHotstar is among a select few platforms globally to operate at such scale. “Our subscription choices must keep pace with how audiences want to watch. This update offers greater flexibility and choice while supporting long-term investments in premium storytelling, live sports, and a high-quality streaming experience at scale,” Sushant Sreeram, Head – SVOD Business & Chief Marketing Officer, JioStar, said.
