Hughes Communications India, a provider of broadband networks, has inaugurated its third satellite hub at Manesar, India.
The other satellite hubs of Hughes Communications India are in Gurgaon and Hyderabad.
The company said the new satellite hub will cater to demand for satellite broadband connectivity and high bandwidth application services for Indian enterprise and SMBs. It will serve as a disaster recovery back-up site for several Hughes’ Indian customers.
“Vast segments remain underserved or unserved in terms of broadband connectivity – a gap that satellite operations can best address,” said Partho Banerjee, MD, Hughes Communications India.
Pranav Roach, president of Hughes Network Systems, said the company is committed to making investments in India and look forward to receiving government approvals to help improve availability of satellite capacity.
Hughes did not reveal the company’s investment plans for India.
The new facility is now ready for commissioning and will be the core operations facility for Hughes in India. With the provision for three 9/11 M antennas, it has a rack capacity of 3100U.
Hughes is the only satellite communications service provider in India to offer hub and satellite level redundancy to customers as both its KU hubs will operate on different satellites and in different geographies.
The satellite hub at Gurgaon consists of the KU facility and the data center, having a 9m KU antenna and two major networks based on DVB-S2 and DVB-S Hughes HN / HX technology. This data center has rack capacity of over 2000U and more than 80,000 sites are operated over in the hub.
Hyderabad facility houses the biggest Hughes facility in India with 4 major 11m and 9m antennas. The facility operates two KU and two XC Antennas. There are 4 major NOCs operating over HN / HX technology and has a 2000U rack space data center.
