India’s broadband market has achieved growth in terms of Internet subscribers in September 2025, according to the latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). The total number of broadband subscribers rose to 995.63 million in September 2025, up from 989.58 million in August 2025, marking a monthly growth rate of 0.61 percent.
Broadband Subscriber Growth
The broadband base includes both wired and wireless broadband users.
Wired broadband subscribers increased from 44.07 million in August to 44.40 million in September 2025, showing an addition of 0.33 million users.
Mobile broadband users grew from 934.11 million to 938.92 million during the same period, reflecting the growing dependence on mobile networks for internet access.
Top Broadband Service Providers in India (September 2025)
Reliance Jio Infocomm continued to dominate the broadband segment with 505.47 million subscribers, followed by Bharti Airtel with 310.42 million and Vodafone Idea with 127.78 million. BSNL ranked fourth with 34.71 million, while Atria Convergence Technologies (ACT) stood fifth with 2.34 million.

Wired Broadband Leaders
In the fixed broadband (wired) segment, Reliance Jio leads with 13.20 million subscribers, followed by Bharti Airtel at 9.80 million, and BSNL at 4.40 million. ACT and Kerala Vision Broadband complete the top five with 2.34 million and 1.42 million, respectively.

Wireless Broadband Market
In wireless broadband (mobile and fixed wireless access), Reliance Jio remained the clear market leader with 492.27 million users, followed by Airtel (300.62 million) and Vodafone Idea (127.77 million). BSNL accounted for 30.31 million, while IBus Virtual Network Services had 0.12 million subscribers.
Wireline and Wireless Trends
The wireline subscriber base increased marginally from 46.51 million in August to 46.61 million in September 2025, representing a 0.23 percent growth rate. India’s overall wireline tele-density rose slightly to 3.29 percent, with urban tele-density at 8.14 percent and rural tele-density at 0.55 percent.
On the wireless side, total subscriptions (mobile + fixed wireless) rose from 1,178.03 million to 1,182.32 million, a 0.36 percent growth. Urban wireless subscriptions increased from 645.27 million to 647.47 million, while rural subscriptions rose from 532.76 million to 534.85 million.
Mobile Subscriber Growth
India’s mobile subscriber base alone grew from 1,167.03 million in August to 1,170.44 million in September 2025, reflecting a 0.29 percent monthly increase.
Urban mobile users grew from 638.49 million to 640.17 million
Rural mobile users rose from 528.54 million to 530.27 million
