Nokia’s 25G PON fiber solution will enable Homeplus to offer 125x increase in internet speeds to residential and business customers. The deployment will make HOMEPLUS the first provider in Taiwan to provide 25Gbps broadband speed to residential and business users.

Homeplus, one of the leading cable and fixed broadband operators in Taiwan, will leverage Nokia’s PON technologies, from GPON to 25G PON and beyond to deliver market-leading speeds and enhanced services that help increase its competitive advantage.

Nokia’s fiber broadband solution is powered by Quillion chipset and Lightspan FX platform. HOMEPLUS can reuse its existing fiber broadband equipment to immediately address the demand for more capacity and enhanced broadband services.

This will allow Homeplus to efficiently boost speeds up to 25Gb/s and offer its customers the next generation of gigabit services essential for cloud computing, 8K video streaming, online gaming, virtual reality, and Internet of Things applications.

Cliff Lai, Vice Chairman of Homeplus, said: “We have been actively investing in our network and services we provide to ensure customers receive the best quality experience possible.”

John Harrington, Senior Vice President and Head of Asia Pacific Sales, Network Infrastructure at Nokia, said: “Leveraging Nokia’s 25G PON solution, this latest upgrade will usher in a new era of sustainable connectivity for customers of Homeplus.”

Homeplus, according to a report from Opensignal, has around 15 percent share in Taiwan’s fixed broadband market. Homeplus is present in Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Keelung.

Opensignal says users on Homeplus network enjoy the fastest broadband download speeds in Taiwan, clocking in at 136.4Mbps as compared with kbro and Chunghwa Telecom.
