Nokia said Converge ICT, an Internet services provider in the Philippines, will be deploying its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) solution to offer broadband services in the island of Mindanao.
Converge ICT Solutions CEO Dennis Anthony in a letter to Internet subscribers apologized on Aug. 6 for slow feedback to complaints, promising to do better despite limitations caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
He said the company is taking steps to improve customer service, including the expansion of customer hotlines by 60 percent and ramping up its workforce. It is also tapping third-party contractors to increase capacity to handle new applications and installations.
Finland-based Nokia said Converge ICT will be using fiber access nodes from the Nokia Lightspan FX series, which provides the flexibility to use their fiber more efficiently and evolve to next generation technologies such as XGS-PON, 25G PON, next-generation PON line cards and Software Defined Access Network (SDAN), through a software upgrade.
“Our network infrastructure will allow us to provide best-in-class broadband network to our subscribers especially during unprecedented times like these. We are confident that Nokia’s fiber solutions will enable us to enhance the overall quality of our services,” Dennis Anthony Uy, founder and CEO at Converge ICT, said.
Nokia GPON technology will enable Converge ICT to deliver enhanced broadband speed and quality. Nokia ISAM FX will provide Converge ICT the flexibility to choose the fiber technology and deployment density that best suits their techno-economics, local regulations, and service offering, Don Abad, head of Customer Team at Nokia Philippines, said.
Nokia said 7360 (ISAM) FX 8/4 are futureproof platforms that are ready to support 10G PON and beyond along with Software Defined Access Network (SDAN) through software upgrade.
Converge ICT earlier it commissioned an innovative and flexible high capacity backbone to give powerful broadband connections. The 400G metro backbone utilizes optical solutions from a United States-based networking systems, services, and software company.
The investment in 400G optical solution allows Converge ICT to be flexible and efficiently improve the capacity of its nationwide backbone to deliver a more seamless user experience.
The network, leveraging ASON technology, is capable of automatically routing traffic to multiple available paths during fiber breaks, a feature that traditional DWDM technology cannot provide.
