Broadband equipment revenue jumps 12% to $4.5 bn in Q2: Dell’Oro

Global revenue for the broadband equipment market increased 12 percent to $4.5 billion in Q2 2022, according to Dell’Oro Group.
TPG Telecom broadbandSpending on PON equipment fuelled the overall market, with revenue for PON OLTs reaching a record $1.3 billion in the quarter.

Operators in Europe, China, and Southeast Asia increased their spending on PON equipment, offsetting some seasonal slowness in North America.

Total XGS-PON ONT unit shipments exceeded 1 million for the first quarter on record, reaching 1.2 million worldwide.

Total cable access concentrator revenue fell 4 percent to just over $236 million. Record quarterly revenue for remote PHY devices and remote OLTs couldn’t offset weakness in CCAP channel licenses, the report said.

Total cable CPE units rose 3 percent as vendors were able to fulfill orders that had been backlogged for multiple quarters. Total revenue of cable CPE increased 11 percent as higher-end DOCSIS 3.1 gateways are as a percentage of total unit shipments.
