AXTEL inks partnership with Ericsson to deploy next-generation TV platform in Mexico

Telecom Lead Europe: AXTEL has inked a partnership with Ericsson for deploying a next-generation TV platform in Mexico.

The Ericsson TV platform will enable users to enjoy TV services that provide greater control, interactivity and personalization.

As a managed services provider, Ericsson’s TV solution will enable AXTEL to benefit from better efficiencies, launch new, differentiated services and grow revenues.

As part of the agreement, Ericsson will offer Network Operations Centre (NOC) and video management infrastructure to help mitigate operational complexities and risks. This will allow AXTEL to focus on its core business functions and to secure a successful service launch of its new triple play bundled offer in Mexico.

Jenaro Martínez, project director of AXTEL TV, says it relies on Ericsson’s leadership in TV and managed services as we embark on this very important initiative.

According to Ericsson ConsumerLab’s annual study, 24 percent of Mexican consumers have increased their TV subscriptions.

Ericsson TV solutions include the high-performance MPEG-4 AVC headend for linear and on-demand standard-definition (SD) and high-definition (HD) TV channels, as well as the award-winning Ericsson Multiscreen TV Solution.

Nicolás Brancoli, vice president, Ericsson Latin America and Caribbean, says the contract allows Ericsson to help AXTEL meet consumers’ growing demand for TV services that offer greater control and interactivity.

Ericsson has signed more than 240 IPTV contracts including multi-screen contracts, IPTV system integration projects, IPTV headend contracts and IPTV infrastructure contracts for access, metro transport and IP Edge.
