Alcatel-Lucent to supply triple-play solution to Bolt Fiber Optic for 1 Gbps broadband

FTTH provider Bolt Fiber Optic Services has selected Alcatel-Lucent to supply a triple-play solution for 1 Gbps broadband connectivity and voice over third-party VoIP service and television services in rural northeastern Oklahoma.

The fiber-to-the-home subsidiary of Northeast Oklahoma Electric Cooperative will utilize Alcatel-Lucent’s GPON technology to ensure in offering a network that will be around 100 times faster than the average connection speed in the United States.  Bolt’s 30,000 cooperative members will benefit from 1 Gbps broadband speed.

Bolt’s infrastructure will support education, economic development, telemedicine opportunities and faster business services.

Alcatel-Lucent’s triple-play solution will enable Bolt to offer linear television, video on demand and pay-per-view TV services.

The company said the 1 gigabit Internet service will start in the fourth quarter of 2014 and is scheduled for completion by April, 2017 targeting rural communities, tribal areas and a lake resort area.

Alcatel-Lucent will supply its 7360 Intelligent Services Access Manager, 5520 Access Management System, Triple Play Express and Video Systems Integration solutions.

Alcatel-Lucent supplies its GPON solution to companies such as EPB Chattanooga, Bristol Tennessee Essential Services, Hong Kong Broadband Network, and ZON Multimedia in Portugal for offering gigabit broadband speed.
