5G smartphone market is forecast to grow much faster than 4G smartphone in the first four years of their launches, said IHS Markit.
Wayne Lam, principle analyst for IHS Markit, said: “5G electronic ecosystem is significantly more mature, at this point, compared to the same time during the LTE transition.”
Recently, device majors such as Samsung, Motorola / Lenovo, among others, announced their plans to launch 5G smartphones this year.
“Key 5G chipsets have been tested, proven and designed into devices, and the industry is now poised to deliver their first 5G smartphone in early 2019,” Wayne Lam said.
