Bharti Infratel on Wednesday announced scholarships to 127 differently abled students in eight Northeastern states in India.

Bharti Infratel has a partnership with Shishu Sarothi, a non-profit organization based in Assam, to offer Bharti Infratel Scholarship Program.

The objective of the scholarship program is to provide financial support to differently abled students for pursuing professional or technical education.

Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura and Meghalaya are the eight states of the Northeast.

A 6-member selection committee under the guidance of Phanindra Jidung, director, Higher Education, Government of Assam, will identify deserving candidates.

DS Rawat, MD and CEO of Bharti Infratel, said: “I am hopeful that this program will benefit deserving students in a great way. I wish each one of these students the very best in realizing their ambitions.”

Bharti Infratel also supports Bharti Foundation providing free education to underprivileged children in rural India through the Satya Bharti School Program.

Bharti Infratel also aims to improve the rural sanitation in Punjab under the Satya Bharti Abhiyan which develops sanitation facilities in Government schools by building toilets for girls.

In partnership with Bharti Foundation, it provides free education to underprivileged children through 254 schools in rural areas in six states of India.

Its programs such as Satya Bharti School Program, Satya Bharti Learning Centres, and Satya Bharti Quality Support Program reach out to around one lakh children from socially and economically challenged backgrounds, with special focus on the girl child.

It built more than 14000 individual household toilets and toilet blocks for girls in 14 schools.
