Vodafone 4G network in Mumbai
Telecom network operator Vodafone India has launched its 4G network in different business and residential centers of the Mumbai city and suburbs.

The Mumbai launch follows similar 4G network investments in Delhi NCR, Kolkata, Karnataka and Kerala.

Vodafone MD and CEO Sunil Sood said the mobile operator plans to cover the entire Mumbai area by March-end.

“Built on the 1,800 MHz band, the network will enable Vodafone 4G customers to access Internet via mobile speeds across a range of smart devices, including mobile Wi-Fi and dongles,” Sood said.

With the 4G launch in Mumbai, Vodafone is present in five circles which contribute 30 percent of industry revenues and nearly 50 percent of Vodafone India data revenues.

The 4G service can be accessed on 4G-enabled smartphones from Apple iPhone, Samsung, Micromax, Microsoft, Lava and Xolo.

Vodafone has nine million customers in Mumbai. The 4G network is built on a fiber backhaul of 100G and supported by its 3G services on a new and modern network.

In a bid to attract customers, Vodafone will offer free upgrade to 4G for those with 4G SIM, 100 percent extra data for Vodafone 4G RED customers, three-month complimentary subscription to TV, movies and movies on Vodafone Play, 100-plus live TV channels and leading entertainment with over 7,500 movie etc.

Vodafone has made an investment of more than Rs 1,000 crore in 2015 to expand, modernize and building an energy efficient network. Vodafone has a  retail footprint with 208 exclusive Vodafone stores — 56 large retail format and 152 Mini Stores – in the In Mumbai city.
