Videocon Telecom posts 41% revenue growth to Rs 621 crore in Q2

Telecom network operator Videocon Telecom reported 41 percent growth in revenue to Rs 621 crore — supported by 137 percent growth in data — in Q2 FY 2015-16.

Videocon Telecom is targeting annual revenue of Rs 3,000 crore in fiscal year 2015-16.

Videocon Telecom posted 29 percent growth in its subscriber base. It is planning to acquire 10 million new subscribers in Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat during the current financial year.

Videocon Telecom reported 12 percent growth in its minutes of usage in Q2.

Videocon Telecom has more than doubled its data consumption, and doubled its data revenues in Q2. Data business of Videocon Telecom contributes to approximately 12 percent of gross revenue. Videocon Telecom aims data to contribute 15 percent by end of the current fiscal.

The Indian telecom operator reported an operating loss of Rs 47 crore in Q2 2015-16 against loss of Rs 81.3 crore in Q2 last financial year.

Arvind Bali, director and CEO, Videocon Telecom, said: “Our strategy was to attain incremental customer and revenue market leadership in our operational circles.”
