Polycom and Motorola team up for enterprise HD video software solution for Motorola XOOM

Polycom,
a global provider of standards-based unified communications (UC) and Motorola
Mobility, announced the launch of Polycom RealPresence Mobile for Motorola
XOOM.

With
Polycom’s HD video technology on a Motorola tablet, users can connect to other
standards-based video systems, including immersive video rooms, group/desktop
systems, and laptops.

The
RealPresence Mobile software application, powered by the Polycom RealPresence Platform,
extends Polycom’s HD video collaboration technology to deliver to tablets the
same high-quality, secure, reliable video experience customers are accustomed
to inside the office.

“Integrating
the Polycom RealPresence Mobile application into Motorola XOOM provides a
best-in-class HD video experience for our customers that frees them from the
office to participate in individual and group video conferences from anywhere
with anyone,” said Christy Wyatt, corporate vice president and general
manager, Enterprise, Motorola Mobility.

Motorola
will become the first company to offer the RealPresence Mobile application
pre-loaded on its tablet devices, starting in Q4 2011.

“Together,
Polycom and Motorola are unleashing workers by extending the benefits of
Polycom-quality video collaboration beyond the conference room and office with
a true mobile enterprise video solution for tablets,” said Sudhakar
Ramakrishna, executive vice president and general manager of UC solutions and
chief development officer, Polycom.

Motorola XOOM showcases
the innovations of the Honeycomb user experience including resizeable widgets,
true multi-tasking, tabbed web browsing, notifications and customization and
also features the latest Google Mobile services.

The
Motorola XOOM provides full support for Adobe Flash Player so users can enjoy
all the video and other rich web content clearer than ever before on the
device’s 10.1″ HD widescreen display. And for Motorola XOOM tablets on the
Verizon Wireless network, support for 4G LTE translates to even faster web
browsing, movie rentals from Android Market, and file downloads than ever
before.

Built
on the RealPresence Platform and featuring an intuitive interface, RealPresence
Mobile allows users to simultaneously view content in HD during the video
session. The solution delivers the industry’s best video and audio for a
higher-quality experience over wireless networks and supports firewall
traversal and VPN clients so users can easily join a conference from any WiFi,
3G, or 4G network.

RealPresence
Mobile was developed with an open standards-based approach to allow it to
seamlessly interoperate with the broadest range of related applications,
protocols, call control systems, and end points.

Polycom
recently announced the launch
of Polycom RealPresence Platform, a comprehensive software infrastructure for
universal video collaboration. The Polycom RealPresence Platform is the
software infrastructure that powers Polycom’s market-leading HD telepresence
and video solutions.
