LightSquared and Openet partner to offer real-time subscriber controls

Openet, a provider of Service Optimization Software (SOS)
to tier one communications and media service providers, announced it delivers
real-time subscriber controls to LightSquared, wholesale-only integrated 4G-LTE
wireless broadband and satellite network.

Through the partnership, Openet provides its Convergent Mediation
and Convergent Charging offerings to LightSquared’s LTE network and supports
its service offering to the operator’s growing base of customers.

“The increased demand for data on an array of
devices required a partner who could support our customers’ current and future
business needs in a flexible, intelligent way. Openet’s offerings enable a
robust and comprehensive portfolio of solutions that are unmatched in the
market today,” said Mahmood Mizra, VP Client Operations at LightSquared.

LightSquared will provide
real-time subscriber controls to each of its partners regardless of the
complexity of the service offering, giving these innovative companies the
ability to differentiate via personalized plans.

Providing real-time subscriber controls for a wholesale
network requires a flexible software system that can manage a high level of
complexity and scale. Openet’s proven performance in the market, track record
of service and innovative software portfolio were key factors for securing this
partnership with LightSquared.

“We believe that LightSquared will alter the
wireless market landscape and pave the way for a new generation of products and
services in North America. Openet is thrilled to be part of the LightSquared
phenomena. Our robust, best-of-breed, solutions for Mediation and Online
Charging are a perfect complement to enable LightSquared to rapidly realize
their vision and vault the US broadband industry forward,” said Niall
Norton, CEO of
Openet.

Openet announced recently that it has deepened its
relationship with Cisco Systems by signing a global reseller agreement that
covers Openet’s entire product suite. Under the terms of the agreement, Cisco
will sell, deploy, and support solutions built upon Openet’s software products
globally, placing Openet’s 3GPP compliant products within a suite of Policy and
Charging Control (PCC) solutions.
