Plantronics makes Plug and Play unified communications a reality with new products

Plantronics announced it is expanding its product line to
include a new category of devices designed to help companies migrate from
traditional desk phone-only usage to a unified communications (UC)
infrastructure.

The products that enable this transition include a new
multi-device adapter, the MDA200, plus corded and wireless USB adapters.

The Plantronics UC Enabler products are designed
to maximize an IT department’s original investment in traditional voice
communications, such as desk phones and audio communication devices.

A great desk-based option for flex/hoteling environments,
the MDA200 supports corded or wireless USB headsets and allows users to answer,
end, hold and switch between calls from any connected device at the touch of a
button.

“Organizations today need flexibility and new ways
to leverage existing technology,” said Bill Loewenthal, vice president,
Unified Communications, Plantronics.

“The MDA200 provides flexibility and enables
companies to leverage their existing Plantronics audio devices. No matter which
headset is being used — corded, wireless DECT or Bluetooth, the MDA200 can
connect enterprise workers to both their softphone and their desk phone,”
Loewenthal added.

The MDA200 ensures IT departments can leverage their
existing devices while they pilot, test or deploy softphones from leading UC
vendors including Avaya, Cisco, IBM and Microsoft. The UC Enabler Category also
includes a range of USB adapters, for both corded and wireless headsets, that
are designed to turn nearly any Plantronics headset into a USB device.

Plantronics recently announced
new tools, training events, and special product offers as part of an initiative
aimed at supporting the dynamic communications requirements of small and
mid-sized businesses (SMBs).

Plantronics is
working with key strategic partners, including Cisco, to develop and offer
complete technology solutions for this fast-moving and mobile-focused market
segment.
