Verizon Wireless announced that it will unveil Verizon
Wireless private applications store for business. It will be a customizable,
controllable, highly flexible enterprise-wide service that assists businesses to
realize the benefits of the mobile marketplace while driving cost efficiencies
and enhancing productivity.
This was revealed at the Verizon Developer Community
Conference.
Enterprises face a myriad of technology challenges,
including the increasing number of apps and diverse content available across
various operating systems and devices.
The private applications store will enable Verizon Wireless
enterprise customers to define and manage their own mobile application
storefront so they can safely and securely distribute mobile apps either
created by the company or by a third-party to their employees (B2E) and
business partners (B2B) whether inside or outside the company’s firewall
regardless of OS, devices or carrier.
“We are committed to giving our app developers a
solid opportunity to extend their business value and brand to the enterprise,
and increase the distribution of their apps in a secure environment,” said
Janet Schijns, vice president, Business Solutions Group, Verizon Wireless.
“It is our vision that Verizon Wireless’ Private
Applications Store will be a go-to resource for the enterprise to manage and
distribute a library of apps to streamline the workflow,” Schijns added.
Recently, Verizon announced that Verizon’s wireless and
wireline operations teams from Florida to Maine are completing
many tasks necessary to prepare for Hurricane Irene, which continues to push
toward the East Coast.
Verizon’s Business Continuity and Emergency Management
team has activated its National Emergency Coordination Center, which enables
Verizon executives to quickly deploy recovery efforts on their networks during
emergency situations.
