Zambia Launches Telecom Rescue Plan to Fix Worsening Network Woes

Zambia’s government is preparing a major telecom infrastructure upgrade worth 225 million kwacha ($11.9 million) to improve network quality and expand connectivity, especially in underserved rural regions. The move comes after growing public complaints over poor mobile and internet services, including dropped calls, weak coverage, and unstable data connections. Authorities plan to modernize telecom infrastructure, strengthen broadband access, and improve digital inclusion as demand for reliable connectivity rises across the country. The investment drive also aligns with Zambia’s broader digital transformation goals and efforts to support economic growth through improved communications services. The initiative is expected to accelerate network expansion and boost service reliability nationwide.

Cooling Revolution: UK Telecom Giant Cuts Data Centre Energy Costs by 69 percent

A major UK telecommunications operator has significantly reduced operational costs after completing a large-scale cooling infrastructure upgrade at one of its 24/7 offshore data centres. The project, delivered by Secure I.T. Environments, replaced nearly 20-year-old air conditioning systems with advanced free-cooling technology and high-efficiency inverter-driven units. The new setup achieved a Cooling PUE of 1.13 and is expected to deliver a return on investment within just 1.29 years. Importantly, the upgrade was completed without disrupting telecom services, highlighting the growing focus on energy-efficient and resilient infrastructure across the telecoms sector. The move reflects increasing industry pressure to cut electricity costs, improve sustainability, and maintain uninterrupted digital connectivity as data demand continues to surge.

eSIM Go Lands Major Investment to Accelerate Global Expansion

UK-based connectivity provider eSIM Go has secured a strategic investment led by TNS Global to expand its travel eSIM and MVNO operations worldwide. Founded in 2020, the company has quickly become a major B2B travel eSIM platform as demand for digital mobile connectivity continues to rise. The fresh funding will support technology development, strengthen connectivity partnerships, and drive expansion into high-growth markets across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eurasia. eSIM Go is also expanding its UK MVNO business through collaborations with VodafoneThree and emerging telecom brands. Company leaders said the investment will help scale operations, improve service delivery, and position the firm to capitalize on the rapidly growing global eSIM market.
