Today’s telecom news includes announcements on MeetKai, GSMA, ModelChorus, MWC 2026, FiberHome, Nokia, Telia, among others.

AI Takes Center Stage: MeetKai & GSMA Unveil ModelChorus at MWC26 Barcelona
MeetKai and GSMA unveiled ModelChorus at MWC 2026 Barcelona, introducing a global online platform designed to help mobile operators and AI developers evaluate and deploy language AI models across real-world networks and devices. ModelChorus enables side-by-side model testing, real-time leaderboards, and “sovereign sandboxes” that allow operators to assess model performance based on local languages, regulations, and market needs, with particular attention to under-resourced languages and regional dialects.
Optical Intelligence Takes Center Stage at MWC 2026
At Mobile World Congress, FiberHome unveiled its vision of “Connecting the Bright Intelligent Future,” centered on optical-intelligence convergence. The company highlighted three strategic areas: advanced optical-computing infrastructure, seamless intelligent network connectivity, and industry digital transformation. Its latest optical interconnect solutions improve deployment efficiency by up to 70 percent, extend transmission reach, and reduce latency for AI data centers. FiberHome also introduced energy-efficient cooling systems and compact, high-performance network technologies, including next-generation antennas and submarine communication systems, designed to meet rising global demand for high-capacity, AI-ready networks.
Nokia and Telia Join Forces to Revolutionize 5G with AI‑Driven Networks
Nokia has announced a collaboration with Telia Finland to co‑develop and test artificial‑intelligence‑powered Radio Access Network (AI‑RAN) use cases, unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2026. The partnership aims to explore commercial applications of AI‑RAN to boost 5G network performance, efficiency, and reliability across various industry segments, including mission‑critical services. Both companies will jointly design, trial, and validate AI‑driven systems that can optimise network operations and support emerging AI‑enabled applications. Live demonstrations of AI‑RAN technologies are featured at Nokia’s MWC booth.
