Vodafone Idea (Vi) has completed the statewide rollout of its 5G network in Kerala, extending next-generation mobile services to all 14 districts. The expansion marks a significant scale-up from the operator’s initial launches in key cities and positions Vi as one of the few telecom players with pan-Kerala 5G availability.
With the latest expansion, Vi 5G is now live in major urban centers as well as emerging towns, covering commercial hubs, educational clusters, tourism corridors and high-density residential areas across the state. The operator said its network has been densified to support high capacity and low latency use cases, catering to both urban and rural demand.
To accelerate adoption, Vi has introduced what it calls the most affordable 5G entry plan in Kerala, with 5G packs starting at Rs.299. The pricing move is aimed at attracting mass-market users as competition in India’s 5G segment intensifies.
The statewide rollout follows Vi’s earlier 5G launches in Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode and Malappuram. Over recent months, the company has expanded coverage to additional cities and towns, including Alapuzha, Kannur, Kalamassery, Kasaragod, Kalpetta, Kollam, Kottayam, Manjeri-Malappuram, Palakkad, Pathanamthitta, Tirur, Thrissur, Thodupuzha and Wayanad. Vi said it will continue to extend 5G services to more locations within the state in a phased manner.
According to the operator, the expanded 5G network is designed to support use cases such as ultra-fast downloads, 4K video streaming, low-latency gaming and real-time communication. The company has deployed energy-efficient infrastructure and AI-enabled self-organizing network capabilities to automatically optimize performance and manage network loads.
Alongside its 5G push, Vi has also stepped up investments in its 4G network in Kerala. Between September 2024 and September 2025, the operator added more than 3,500 new 4G sites across the 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz bands. These upgrades have been aimed at improving indoor coverage, expanding rural reach and increasing overall data speeds.
Vi said further network additions are planned in the coming months to enhance capacity and bandwidth, underlining its focus on strengthening service quality while rolling out next-generation connectivity across Kerala.
