Net income of Verizon for the first-quarter of 2025 was $5 billion compared to $4.7 billion in first-quarter 2024.

“Strong financial performance for the first-quarter of 2025 was fueled by innovative and segmented product offerings that meet the ever-changing needs of consumers and businesses across market sectors,” said Verizon Chairman and CEO Hans Vestberg.

“The company’s strategically designed portfolio of diversified wireless and broadband products and adjacent services positioned Verizon for a successful quarter, as well as resiliency in any economic environment,” Hans Vestberg said.

In the first quarter of 2025, Verizon led the industry in wireless service revenue, reaching $20.8 billion, up 2.7 percent year over year, while wireless equipment revenue increased slightly to $5.4 billion.

However, postpaid phone net losses grew to 289,000 compared to 114,000 a year earlier.

In broadband, Verizon added 339,000 net new customers, including 308,000 fixed wireless access additions, growing that base to over 4.8 million, with a long-term target of 8 to 9 million by 2028.

Fios internet net additions declined to 45,000 from 53,000, while total broadband connections rose to more than 12.6 million, a 13.7 percent year-over-year increase.

Verizon Consumer revenue grew 2.2 percent to $25.6 billion, with wireless service revenue rising to $17.2 billion. Churn rates remained relatively stable, but postpaid phone net losses increased to 356,000, and core prepaid saw a turnaround with 137,000 net additions versus a loss last year.

Fixed wireless net additions hit 199,000, and Fios internet additions were 41,000, contributing to $2.9 billion in Fios revenue.

Verizon Business saw revenue fall 1.2 percent to $7.3 billion, though wireless service revenue rose 2.8 percent to $3.6 billion. Business added 94,000 wireless retail postpaid customers, including 67,000 phone additions, and recorded 109,000 fixed wireless net additions.

Verizon is targeting capital expenditure of between $17.5 billion and $18.5 billion for 2025.
