China Mobile H1 2025 results: Stable revenue, 5G expansion, and strategic Capex drive digital growth

China Mobile reported stable financial performance for the first half of 2025, with operating revenue reaching RMB543.8 billion, showing marginal decline from the prior year.

Telecommunications services revenue of China Mobile rose by 0.7 percent year-on-year to RMB467.0 billion, supported by growth in the CHBN (Customer, Home, Business, and New) segments. Digital transformation revenue increased by 6.6 percent to RMB156.9 billion, contributing 33.6 percent of telecom services revenue.

EBITDA of China Mobile improved by 2.0 percent to RMB186.0 billion, representing 39.8 percent of telecom services revenue, while net profit rose by 5.0 percent to RMB84.2 billion.

Subscribers

China Mobile said subscriber growth remained steady, with mobile customers reaching 1.005 billion. Notably, 5G customers grew by 46.91 million, totaling 599 million and representing nearly 60 percent of the mobile user base.

The company also added 6.23 million new wireline broadband users, bringing the total to 284 million. Among these, gigabit broadband subscribers increased 19.4 percent year-on-year to 109 million, while FTTR (fiber to the room) users surged 264 percent to 18.4 million.

In the enterprise segment, China Mobile added 2.25 million corporate customers, bringing the total to 34.84 million. The number of commercial customer packages rose by 10.11 million to 36.95 million. Video connections also grew by 20.9 percent, reaching 89.38 million, while the number of smart connected vehicles served surpassed 69 million.

ARPU

Average revenue per user (ARPU) trends remained strong. Mobile ARPU held steady at RMB49.5, while blended ARPU in the household segment increased by 2.3 percent year-on-year to RMB44.4. These figures reflect the company’s success in driving consistent value from its customer base despite a competitive market landscape.

Capex

China Mobile maintained its focus on infrastructure investment, with capital expenditure totaling RMB55.8 billion in H1 2025. It deployed 187,000 additional 5G base stations, increasing the total to over 2.599 million. The RedCap network was also expanded with more than 732,000 stations, enhancing coverage in rural and indoor areas. The company’s gigabit broadband footprint reached 500 million households.

Computility capacity rose to 33.3 EFLOPS under the national Eastern Data and Western Computing initiative. Data center capacity surpassed 660,000 IDC racks, while over 1,300 capabilities were launched via the integration platform, achieving 803.5 billion cumulative deployments. The Wutong Big Data Platform grew to over 2,000 PB in data scale, highlighting China Mobile’s ongoing commitment to digital infrastructure, AI, and cloud computing development.
