Reliance Jio signs third telecom infrastructure sharing deal with Reliance Communications

4G service provider Reliance Jio Infocomm today announced its third telecom infrastructure sharing deal with Reliance Communications.

The third agreement is for sharing of Reliance Communications intra-city optic fiber infrastructure for accelerated roll-out of its 4G services across the country.

However, the Mukesh Ambani-promoted Reliance Jio Infocomm is yet to announce the launch plans of the 4G venture which received the broadband wireless access (BWA) license in 2010.

Reliance Communications in a statement said the agreement is based on arm’s length pricing at prevailing market prices. Reliance Jio Infocomm has similar agreement with Bharti Airtel, one of the rivals of Reliance Communications, as well.

Reliance Communications’ intra-city optic fiber network extends to nearly 500,000 fiber pair kilometres, across the top more than 300 cities and towns in India.

The first agreement was for sharing the inter-city optic fiber sharing — signed in April 2013, while the second deal for sharing the nationwide telecom towers infrastructure sharing — signed in August 2013.
