Orange Q3 2024 result shows it added mobile customers

Orange Group reported a revenue increase of 1.6 percent year-over-year to €9.995 billion in Q3 2024. This growth was attributed mainly to a 2.5 percent rise in retail services.

Orange CEO Christel Heydemann

Christel Heydemann, Chief Executive Officer of the Orange group, said: “Our Q3 results confirm our successful execution of the Lead the Future strategic plan. These solid results are driven by excellent sales momentum and growth in retail services across all geographies.”

Africa & Middle East: This region was the primary contributor to revenue growth, with a 10.5 percent increase to €1,918 million, driven by strong performance in voice and significant growth in mobile data (+18.3 percent), fixed broadband (+17.2 percent), Orange Money (+20.7 percent), and B2B services (+5.8 percent).

Orange’s Africa and Middle East business noted that its customer base reached 160.1 million, reflecting an 8.2 percent growth. 4G customer base has increased by 26.1 percent. Mobile ARPO increased by 3.6 percent in Q3. Fixed Broadband increased by 17.8 percent, now serving 3.8 million customers. Orange Money customers rose by 17.6 percent to 37.1 million.

France: Revenues increased by 1.3 percent €4,496 million, bolstered by a 2.8 percent rise in retail services excluding PSTN and a smaller decline in wholesale services.

Orange France had 83,000 mobile additions in Q3, with a churn rate of 13.8 percent. Fiber addition touched 259,000. Fixed broadband resumed growth with 6,000 additions.

Convergent ARPO increased to 77.7 euros (up 3.9 euros from last year), driving a 4.6 percent growth in convergent services. By the end of September 2024, 39.5 million French households (90 percent of total) were connectable to Orange Fiber.

Europe: Revenues declined by 2.1 percent to €1,744 million, largely due to a significant drop in wholesale services (–15.5 percent).

Orange Europe saw a decline in churn and exceptional net additions, including +151,000 in Mobile (mainly B2C), +63,000 in Fiber, and +9,000 in very high-speed Fixed broadband.

Orange Business Segment: Revenues decreased by 2.6 percent to €1,860 million due to a 7.1 percent drop in fixed-only revenues. However, Orange Cyberdefense saw growth at +9.7 percent.

Customer Base and Commercial Performance:

Orange maintained its leading position in convergence services in Europe, with 9.1 million convergent customers (+1.0 percent).

Mobile services grew to 253 million accesses globally (+8.5 percent), with mobile contracts reaching 94.8 million (+11.7 percent).
