Telecom Lead Asia: Mobile equipment major Huawei is powering Dialog Broadband Networks’ (DBN) LTE TDD network in Sri Lanka.
Dialog’s LTE TDD network is set to provide the world’s first commercial VoIP service, adopting a VPN solution to provide comprehensive wireless access network services for small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) and home connections.
Huawei’s VPN solution offers QoS (Quality of Service) for E2EM (end-to-end management) with precise charging and centralized VPN subscriber management. The solution also supports transparent transmissions on an LTE network to complement or act as a substitute for traditional fixed-lines.
The LTE Home/Office device provided by Dialog enables Plug and Play connectivity to the LTE network and comes complete with in-built Wi-Fi, 4 Local Area Network (LAN) Data Ports, a USB port and the option of 2 Voice (Telephone) lines.
The first of the network’s two phases was completed on December 31, currently providing coverage in the capital Colombo, with an extension across wider Sri Lanka expected soon.
DBN selected Huawei’s solutions for RAN and EPC bundled with Huawei application software and customer-provided equipment (CPE).
Huawei and Dialog plan to deliver wireless broadband services, addressing Sri Lanka’s broadband requirements.

percent in 2Q12 over the previous quarter, to $1.72 billion.
