Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan’s leading telecommunications operator, reported revenues of NT$57.92 billion for the third quarter of 2025, marking a 4.2 percent year-on-year increase. The company’s performance was supported by solid growth in its Consumer and Enterprise Business Groups, fueled by rising 5G adoption, broadband upgrades, and expanding ICT services.
Strong Growth in Consumer Business Group
The Consumer Business Group generated NT$35.18 billion in revenue during the third quarter, up 2.2 percent from the same period last year. Growth was primarily driven by higher demand for mobile and fixed broadband services, along with strong sales from new iPhone models.
Mobile Services: Total mobile service revenue increased 3.3 percent to NT$17.31 billion. Chunghwa Telecom’s mobile subscriber base reached 13.19 million, up 1.3 percent year-on-year.
Market Leadership: The company maintained its dominant position in Taiwan’s telecom market, expanding its mobile market share to 40.8 percent.
5G Expansion: Chunghwa Telecom’s 5G subscriber share reached 38.8 percent, while the overall 5G penetration rate among smartphone users climbed to 44.7 percent by the end of the quarter.
Revenue Impact: The company noted that the average monthly fee uplift from 5G migration remained robust at around 40 percent, reflecting strong customer willingness to pay for enhanced connectivity.
Mobile ARPU: Postpaid ARPU excluding IoT SIMs rose 1.8 percent to NT$562, driven by higher data usage and 5G plan adoption.
Broadband and Fixed Network Performance
Chunghwa Telecom’s broadband and HiNet services continued to see steady subscriber and revenue growth.
Subscriber Growth: Broadband subscribers increased 0.6 percent to 4.45 million, while HiNet broadband subscribers rose 1.4 percent to 3.78 million.
Revenue and ARPU: Fixed broadband revenue grew 3.2 percent to NT$11.68 billion, with ARPU rising by NT$23 per month to NT$810, representing a 3 percent increase.
High-Speed Adoption: The number of customers choosing higher-speed broadband packages showed strong momentum. Subscriptions for 300 Mbps and above increased 14 percent, those for 500 Mbps and above achieved double-digit growth, and 1 Gbps plans saw multiple-fold expansion.
Fixed-Line Services: The total number of fixed-line subscribers stood at 8.70 million, reflecting stable performance in legacy services.
Enterprise Business Group Drives ICT Momentum
The Enterprise Business Group delivered impressive growth, with revenues up 7.4 percent to NT$18.91 billion. The surge was mainly fueled by the company’s ICT business, which recorded a 14.5 percent increase in revenue. Chunghwa Telecom’s ICT performance was supported by the strong demand for cloud computing, data center, cybersecurity, and digital transformation solutions from enterprise clients.
International Business Group Declines Slightly
Revenue from the International Business Group fell 1.9 percent to NT$2.33 billion, primarily due to reduced demand for international fixed voice services. However, the company continues to strengthen its global connectivity and data service portfolio to offset voice revenue declines.
Outlook
Chunghwa Telecom remains focused on expanding its 5G coverage, enhancing digital and ICT offerings, and driving growth in broadband and enterprise segments. With increasing adoption of high-speed internet and digital solutions, the company is well positioned to sustain its market leadership and deliver consistent revenue growth in the coming quarters.
