Altel to source 4G LTE network from Huawei

Malaysian telecom services provider Altel Communications will source 4G LTE network equipment from Huawei Technologies.

Altel Communications will roll out 4G network alongside its existing partner Celcom Axiata.

Chinese telecom network vendor Huawei will provide wireless, core, transport and billing services to Altel, as well as business consultation service to help Altel develop new competitive mobile services including Mobile Virtual Network.

“We will be building our own radio network and leverage on Celcom’s widest and fastest network in Malaysia as well as continuously invest over the next five years,” said Altel CEO Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Yaacob.

Altel is one of the eight companies awarded with the LTE 2600MHz spectrum by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to provide 4G services.

To date, Altel has over 20,000 registered subscribers with 10 exclusive stores in the Klang Valley, Johor, Penang and Kedah as well as 2,500 authorized dealers and 32 distributors nationwide.
