Altai Technologies enables Taipei 101 new year eve countdown super WiFi services

Altai Technologies, a carrier-grade Super WiFi equipment
supplier, has enabled Fitel, a BWA operator of Taiwan’s new year’s eve countdown
to provide super WiFi services at Taipei 101.

To cope with the demand for mobile internet during New
Year’s Eve, the service operator built a wireless broadband network to
complement its existing WiMAX network.

The WiFi network covered the streets around Taipei 101
with twenty-three units of Altai A8-Ei Base Stations deployed on the rooftops
of buildings in the district to provide Super WiFi service. The network was
built and turned into full service in less than 1 week.

Each Altai A8-Ei provided 650m
line-of-sight signal coverage where every iPhone, iPad or smartphone user could
directly connect to the base stations with a fast uplink and downlink WiFi
performance.

“This kind of outdoor celebration activity is a big
challenge for a wireless broadband network because of the high user capacity
especially when the clock neared midnight on December 31st. We
solved this problem using Altai’s smart antenna technologies and a patented
signal processing algorithm to provide the industry’s best coverage per base
station. Furthermore, we strengthen WiFi signal coverage by installing several
base stations in the same area to provide cross coverage,” said
Chi-hung Lin, President & CEO of Altai Technologies.

The New Year’s Eve countdown Super WiFi program was a
great success. The Altai Super WiFi Solutions are being trialed and deployed by
more than 20 tier one operators around the world.
