Airtel 4G in Kerala
Telecom network operator Bharti Airtel on Monday announced the expansion of its 4G network in Bangalore by launching 4G on FD LTE technology in 1800 MHz spectrum band.

The expansion of 4G in 1800 MHz band is in addition to the existing 4G services in the city using TD LTE in the 2300 MHz band.

Airtel aims to enhance mobile broadband experience to customers by making investment in both TD FD 4G technologies. The main benefit from making investment in dual spectrum bands of 2300 MHz and 1800 MHz will be better network coverage and data speeds to customers.

Airtel’s 4G services in the 2300 Mhz band using the TD LTE standard is available in the garden city from 2012.

C Surendran, CEO – Karnataka, Bharti Airtel said: “We gave the city its first 4G network and have received very good response from customers. Given the growth of mobile data services and content consumed on mobiles, the addition of a second 4G carrier will add to the experience of the customers on our network.”

Bharti Airtel claims that it has the widest 4G network in Karnataka with services now available in 130 towns.

Reliance Jio, the main rival of Bharti Airtel, has spectrum holdings of 846.10 MHz, including 440 MHz in 2300 MHz band (one block of 20 MHz in all 22 circles), 213.60 MHz in 1800 MHz band (blocks ranging from 2×3 MHz to 2×10 MHz in 18 circles) and 192.50 MHz in 800 MHz band (blocks ranging from 2×2.5 MHz to 2×5 MHz in all 22 circles, including spectrum from Reliance Communications in 13 circles.
